Working towards protection and conservation of the UK's native species

Here at Paradise Wildlife Park we are incredibly proud to represent England as the centre for species survival. The Centres for Species Survival (CSS) are partnerships between the IUCN Species Survival Commission( SSC) Chair’s Office and leading species conservation organisations. A Centre for Species Survival empowers dedicated partner-based teams to work closely with relevant SSC Groups in catalysing priority efforts for assess-plan-act at various geographic scales or taxonomic focuses. The Centres for Species Survival aims to catalyse strategic and collaborative species conservation.

Now more than ever, we are aware of the importance of the natural world and the environments that we live in. With the knowledge we now have we wish to work together as one team to unite to support and protect the ecosystems nationally and internationally. The centres for species survival aims to empower the need for protection of native species and their conservation. Through conservation planning and mobilising species recovery action. The centres will enhance the scope and capacity for species conservation and solidify the hubs for conservation efforts and together supporting the work of more than 10,500 IUCNssc experts, as we work together to secure a future for biodiversity.

Working closely with the species survival commission, Zoos, Aquariums and governments across the world we are joining forces to reverse the negative trends on wildlife decline by acting as a beacon to help guide the way for this conservation mission. Here at Paradise Wildlife Park, we are actively working with the species survival commission to support native wildlife through our Hedgehog rehabilitation and release program. Through this program we support the care and rehabilitation of injured Hedgehogs and provide a safe area where they can be safely released back into the wild at their own free will. We are always looking to improve and assist further as we understand the importance of our native species. Within the coming months, we have big plans to expand our native species protections program from native birds to other native small mammals.

.

This is due to the fact that habitat fragmentation and urbanisation not only affects Hedgehogs and other UK wildlife but is a global problem affecting biodiversity. With this international team effort we hope to raise awareness and support for all wildlife conservation and work together to create a biologically diverse ecosystem across our world.

Paradise Wildlife Park is proud to be a beacon and advocate for native species conservation and we look forward to working alongside the other incredible centres for species survival as we work together for conservation.
