After much anticipation, we are excited to announce that Sun Bear Heights and Jaguar Jungle is now open at Paradise Wildlife Park as of the 1st of April 2023. Coinciding with our 39th anniversary and our last year as Paradise Wildlife Park prior to our rebranding to Hertfordshire Zoo in April 2024. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our supporters, members and visitors’ patience and understanding during these project builds. The wait is officially over and we are sure that you will not be disappointed as these habitats have definitely been worth the wait!

As you enter these habitats, get ready to be immersed into the cultural and natural environment of Southeast Asia and the Pantanal of South America. Explore the traditional Malaysian prints as you overlook Sun bear Heights where Kyra and Indra will be enjoying their new surroundings or even see how you ‘bear up’ next to all species of bears as you travel into the forest itself. Stop by Sun Bear Bakery to sit and relax with sustainable coffee and cakes whilst immersed floor to ceiling in a UK-first mixed species. Keep an eye out as you try to spot not only sun bears and binturongs but our family of Asian small-clawed otters, who might also be about to welcome you.

Carry on your adventure as you travel across the world into the Pantanal of Brazil in the heart of South America. Join us as we welcome back our incredible Jaguars Kumal and Kedera from their holiday at our sister site The Big Cat Sanctuary. Journey through the variety of species that call the ecosystem of the Pantanal home, learning about the threats they face and how animal conservation is helping to prevent habitat loss. Look out as our jaguars might be lazing around their pool or come face to face on our top walkway as they climb the trees in a UK-first habitat allowing you an up-close viewing area immersed within the tree tops.
Don’t forget to explore the rest of the Zoo with over 800 animals in our World of Animals. Even take a prehistoric jump into our World of Dinosaurs as you explore over 40 animatic moving and roaring dinosaurs.
