Farewell to our Eurasian Wolves

Romulus and Inge will be moving to Wolf Watch

January 2025 will bring a bittersweet moment for everyone at Hertfordshire Zoo as we will be bidding farewell to our beloved Wolf siblings ‘Romulus’ and ‘Inge’, who will be moving to Wolf Watch, a dedicated wolf sanctuary on the English, Welsh boarder.

‘Romulus’ and ‘Inge’ have called the zoo home for 12 years and in that time have become two of the most popular animals that are under our care, from team members, online follower’s members, and visitors alike. This is due to their charismatic personalities and playful sibling relationship, especially being very popular with experience guests.

We feel this is what is best for their welfare and best for the zoo in the long term as we align ourselves more with international breeding programmes, conservation initiatives and with the plans we have for future site developments.

The sanctuary they will be calling home from January onwards is set in breath-taking pine forests, with natural hills, streams, and surroundings for the wolves to live out the rest of their lives.

Wolf Watch is a dedicated wolf charity with a wonderful team who we know are going to provide ‘Romulus’ and ‘Inge’ with the best care.

Please be sure to use this time over the Christmas and New Year break to come and say goodbye to them.

Thank you for your support, and we will be giving exciting updates soon about our plans for 2025 and beyond at the zoo.
