Hertfordshire Zoo is thrilled to announce a series of new developments as we celebrate and enter 2025. With the incredible support from our community in 2024, we’re focused on making the upcoming year even more special with a range of exciting additions and enhancements to our zoo to continue sharing the wonder of wildlife.
Major Redevelopment and New Arrivals
Recently, we announced the departure of our white lions to our sister site, The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent. In 2025, we will be unveiling significant plans for the redevelopment of our Lion Pride Lands area, promising a transformative new feel that welcomes guests into the World of Animals.
Immersive Walkthrough Experience
We’re excited to announce a new immersive walk-through with our goats and sheep, promising a closer interaction with these farm animals. We’re also introducing alpacas and pigs to enrich our farm area! This new development means the previously planned Madagascar area will no longer happen, due to other exciting plans in the years to follow.
Reptile and Amazon Expansions
Our reptile team is growing! We’re introducing new species like fish, amphibians, and chameleons. Their new habitat will be located within our Amazon and Beyond building. We invite you to visit these amazing animals in their new home soon!
Enhanced Habitats and New Species
We will be completing the porcupines and meerkat habitat refurbishment, bringing you closer to these incredible animals. Plus, we’re excited to welcome a new mongoose species to our zoo family. This creates more learning opportunities for everyone who visits.
Special Events
Dino’s After Dark is back again with an added twist in October! Enjoy a special themed Summer Evenings at the Zoo in June, creating unforgettable memories as the sun sets over Hertfordshire. Santa and his team will also be bringing a BRAND-NEW Christmas Experience to Hertfordshire Zoo in December!

Get ready to see more familiar TV characters with added meet and greets all year long! Plus, we will announce more dates to see Tyler, Cam & Aaron from CBBC’s One Zoo Three. Don’t miss the chance to meet your favourite stars and make unforgettable memories!
