Engagement at Hertfordshire Zoo

In a moment filled with love, celebration, and a touch of wildlife magic, Carl Preston proposed to Amber-Sky Glasscock during the zoo’s daily bird display, marking a heartwarming milestone for the couple. The couple, who have been together for four and a half years, chose the zoo as the perfect location for their engagement due to its special place in their hearts. Having been members of Hertfordshire Zoo for over 20 years, the zoo’s rich history and dedication to conservation have become woven into the fabric of their family life.

Carl’s thoughtful proposal was not just a romantic gesture but also a family affair. Amber-Sky’s daughter was present to witness the special moment and even received a meaningful gift from Carl, signifying the blending of their family under the zoo’s watchful eye.

“Hertfordshire Zoo has always been a place where connections are made—not just between people and animals but also among families and loved ones,” said Tyler Whitnall, Director. “This proposal beautifully illustrates how our zoo is not only a conservation leader but also a place where unforgettable memories are created.”

The engagement underscores Hertfordshire Zoo’s philosophy of blending modern experiences with its core mission of wildlife conservation to share the wonder of wildlife. The zoo’s bird display, which showcases the natural behaviors of its avian residents while promoting the importance of conservation, served as the perfect backdrop for this modern love story.

“This event is a wonderful reminder of how conservation spaces can play a role in all aspects of life, from education to celebration,” continued Tyler Whitnall. “By hosting a range of events—from educational programs to magical moments like these—we hope to inspire every visitor to feel a deeper connection to nature and its preservation.”

‘We’re really happy and thank you to the guys at Hertfordshire Zoo for everything that they’ve done for us. This has been 2 months planning, and I am looking forward to the future together with Amber-Sky and Molly-may.’ Said Carl Preston.

The zoo continues to evolve as a destination where conservation and modern experiences meet. Whether it’s a proposal under the wings of a bird display, a corporate event surrounded by the animals, or a family enjoying seasonal attractions, Hertfordshire Zoo remains dedicated to creating lasting memories whilst continuing to share the wonder of wildlife.
