The event, taking place on Thursday 13th November, will bring together the local community for a night of history, storytelling, and reflection. Guests will enjoy a warm welcome with refreshments and finger food before settling in for an exclusive Q&A session with Peter Sampson, hosted by a special guest from Hertfordshire Zoo.
Peter will share personal stories from his extraordinary life, spanning the creation of Hertfordshire Zoo, his passion for wildlife, and his career as an author. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of his books, with all proceeds supporting Hertfordshire Zoo’s charity.
Alongside the main talk, Hoddesdon Library will feature a special centenary display in the Creator Space, with photographs, community history, and zoo memories provided by Hertfordshire Zoo. Guests will also have the chance to view the Hoddesdon Centenary Film while enjoying refreshments.
To mark the occasion, Hertfordshire Zoo will be donating additional books by Peter Sampson to Hoddesdon Library’s collection, ensuring his stories and passion for conservation can be enjoyed by the community for years to come.
Tickets for the evening are priced at just £5.00, with all proceeds going directly to support the library service. With only 80 tickets available, demand is expected to be high – making this an unmissable event for local residents, history enthusiasts, and zoo supporters alike.
An Evening with Peter Sampson promises to be a memorable highlight of Hoddesdon’s centenary year – combining local heritage, wildlife, and the unique opportunity to meet one of the area’s most inspiring figures.
