Hertfordshire Zoo is an award-winning hub of innovative and interactive learning. We provide an exciting opportunity for students and teachers alike to share the wonder of wildlife.
It is our responsibility to ensure that each visitor departs with a greater empathy for wildlife across the globe and the confidence to make small life changes to support biodiversity.
Our education sessions are designed to provide your students with a unique and exceptional learning opportunity alongside a member of our highly qualified education team.
School groups will receive a reduced admission price during our peak season of £12.90 per student with one adult FREE for every 6 paying children (excluding 1:1 children). Additional adults will be charged at £15.
Group rates do not include access into Tumble Jungle Soft Play or Boulders Beach.
We offer a variety of innovative and engaging education sessions tailored to suit the age and abilities of your school group, all of which are mapped to the National Curriculum. The proceeds from our education sessions aid global conservation through the support of our charity and long-term conservation partners.
We offer two types of learning opportunities, either inside our education classroom known as ‘Base Camp’, or alternatively, across the Zoo in the form of our ‘Mini Meets’.
Education sessions are priced at £30 for a 25-minute slot. Each time slot can accommodate up to 30 students. To view the topics that we offer in our education sessions, please click the link below, and follow your relevant Key Stage.
We also offer mini meets, which can be booked in addition to or instead of a classroom session. Mini meets are a 10–15-minute talk with our zoo educators at an animal habitat, priced at £15 with a limit of 30 students. Further information on our mini meets can be found on our topics page.
Group bookings are available throughout the year excluding weekends and school holidays.

Please note your booking is only confirmed once you have received a confirmation email from us.
Once you have received confirmation of your trip, two teachers are encouraged to visit the Zoo prior to your school trip to conduct a risk assessment. We allow up to two teachers per school to attend free of charge. All other teachers/guests will be charged the standard entry price.
