Hertfordshire Zoo is an awarding winning hub of innovative and interactive learning. We provide an exciting opportunity for students and teachers alike to share in the wonder of wildlife.
It is our responsibility to ensure that each visitor leaves with an empathy for wildlife across the globe and empowers them to make small changes in their lives to support global biodiversity.
Our education sessions are designed to give your students an outstanding learning opportunity with a highly qualified team of educators.
We offer a variety of innovative and engaging education sessions tailored to suit the age and abilities of your school group, all of which are mapped to the National Curriculum.

We offer learning opportunities inside our education classroom ‘Base Camp’ and across the park in the form of our ‘Mini Meets’.
During the Off-Peak season, education sessions can be booked at £30 per 25-minute session. There is also the option to book a 25-minute education session, followed by a 25-minute tour out on the park to reinforce the learning. An education session and tour costs £40.
We also offer mini meets, which can be booked in addition to or instead of a classroom session. Mini meets are 10–15-minute talk with our Zoo Educators at an animal habitat, priced at £15 with a limit of 30 students. Further information on our mini meets can be found on our topics page.
School groups will also receive a discounted ticket price during the off-peak season of £9.90 per student with one FREE adult per 6 paying students. Additional adults will be charged at £15.00. Proceeds from our education sessions aid global conservation through support of our charity and our long term conservation partners.
For your sessions to run smoothly, please ensure you arrive with plenty of time, otherwise your talk may be cancelled, and unfortunately no refund offered. Booking is easy – we are open every day except Christmas Day, so just call us on 01992 470490 or email groupbookings@hertfordshirezoo.com with your requirements and we will be happy to help you arrange an educational visit. Once booked, two teachers are encouraged to visit the Zoo prior to the day to carry out a risk assessment for free. We allow one free pre-visit per school (maximum of 2 teachers). All other teachers will be charged the normal daily entry price.
