“Widening Participation Initiative”

The day long programme gives you the free opportunity to discover the role zoos play in protecting biodiversity across the globe, whilst giving you valuable and worthwhile experiences to add to your personal statement.

This aspirational and practical programme aims to give you the opportunity to learn about how zoos contribute to conservation, research, conservation education and animal welfare.

Programme Content

You will get the opportunity to

Study the behaviours of our African penguins
Take a lead role in running a fictional in situ conservation organisation in Madagascar
Set up enrichment for our mobs of meerkats
Have an up close and personal encounter with our largest residents on the park
Create a viral awareness raising TikTok all about conservation of global biodiversity

NB. Programme activities can be subject to change

This is a widening participation initiative and is currently prioritising students who are 16-19 and in receipt of the 16-19 bursary or are First In Family (F-I-F) to university. However, any places not taken up by students who meet this criteria will be offered to other students on a first come first served basis.

This is a free one-day programme, dates for up-coming programmes will be announced shortly.

This opportunity should not be missed for students who are looking to add tangible experiences to their UCAS application form.
