Kitchen Stores Person Required
We currently have an opportunity for a Stores Person to join our Wild family here at Hertfordshire Zoo! You’ll be assisting with accepting deliveries, moving stock and ensuring all paperwork is kept up to scratch.
Duties Include:
- Be responsible for receiving and checking all deliveries and recording delivery temperatures
- Ensure all stock is stored in the correct manner and in a timely fashion
- Liaise with catering team any queries relating to delivery and stock discrepancies
- Keep a record of and report any frequent shortages or spare items
- Assist with stock takes as required
- Ensure all stock is correctly rotated and notify catering team of any date issues
- Keep stores areas clean and tidy
Package Description:
- £12.21 per hour; £7619.04 PA
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday (7am to 11am)
- The position is offered with an immediate start, initially on a maternity cover basis, fixed to 31st December 2025, with the opportunity for the position to become permanent or to develop into other areas within the catering department for the right candidate

Health & Safety Coordinator (Part-Time, 24 hours a week)
Hertfordshire Zoo seeks a Health & Safety Coordinator to promote safety across the site. This part-time role ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, supports emergency planning, and leads initiatives to reduce risks for employees, visitors, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with UK standards
- Monitor, audit, and report on safety practices; investigate incidents
- Lead training and emergency response drills
- Oversee safety procedures, including Safe Systems of Work and contractor safety
- Manage environmental initiatives, including waste disposal and emissions
- Conduct inspections and manage third-party testing of systems
- Support health, safety, and environmental concerns in building maintenance
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH)
- Experience in a health & safety role
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and accident investigation
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desirable:
- Knowledge of construction/maintenance and CDM 2015
- Understanding of zoonotic disease and animal-related safety
- First Aid trained or willingness to train
