What better way to get hands on than with our Shadow a Zookeeper for a day experience? Experience the day to day running of Hertfordshire Zoo for yourself whilst getting the chance to meet some of the planet’s rarest creatures from our magnificent Big Cats to our gorgeous Meerkats.
You’ll experience what it’s like to be a zookeeper for a day as you accompany one of our keepers; helping them out with all aspects of being a zookeeper by preparing feeds, cleaning enclosures and aiding the animals with important daily exercise. And if all of that wasn’t quite enough for you, you’ll also get the chance to watch our Big Cat feed!
This fun and exciting day starts with complimentary refreshments on arrival in our Zoo HQ before being greeted by one of our Animal Park team members who will give you a full health and safety briefing and explain to you in more detail the timetable of your days’ animal activities.
A voucher will be provided for you for use onsite either for lunch or retail and at the end of your experience, you will be presented with a certificate as a memento of your day.
Our Gift Vouchers can be redeemed across our experiences, excluding our Shadow a Zookeeper experience! Perfect as a gift for friends or family.
Each experience includes admission to the zoo, so you can spend the whole day to explore all of our facilities we have to offer around your experience if you wish.
You can bring guests who pay normal admission prices online in advance but cannot participate in the experience.

Yes, our Shadow a Zookeeper package includes a ticket to our zoo so once you're done with your experience you can enjoy & explore the rest of our animals.
